Missionary Pontificie Works

The Missionary Pontificies Works, have the purpose to underline the missionary nature of the Church and the duty of all the Christians to participate in its Mission with the prayer, the sacrifice and the material cooperation.

The World Missionary Day, the culminating moment of every annual activity of animation and cooperation, is known to all the levels, and by now became a tradition in the Church. They constitute an unique institution and they have a fundamental purpose: to promote the universal missionary spirit in the People of God.

In the Missionary Works the promptness of the Pope manifests for all the Churches. Their task is to promote and to sustain the missionary animation in the People of God, maintaining alive indeed the apostolic spirit in the single Churches and striving themself to assist to the needs of those that are in difficulty. They are able therefore to qualify themselves as" the Pope's Works".

Being of the Pope and of the Episcopal College, also in the particular Churches ambit, these Works occupy “justly the first place, because they are a resource to infuse in the Catholics, since the infancy, a really universal and missionary spirit, to favor a suitable harvest of benefits to advantage all the missions, according to the necessities of each” One of the principal purposes of the Missionary Works is also that to arouse vocations “ad gentes” and “a vita”, in the ancient Churches as also in those more youths.
